East-West Medicine department at Kyung-Hee graduate school offers programs of study in both the Western and Oriental medicine for graduates working towards their PhD. Kyung Hee University is one of the first and most esteemed institutions to offer studies in this fields as it has a medical school as well as a Korean traditional medical school, both of which are ranked in the top tier of medical schools in Korea. Additionally, Kyung Hee has a school of pharmacy which is divided into the departments of Western pharmacy and Eastern pharmacy, and co-work with this department are often under way.
The aim of the Department of East-West Medicine is to understand the merits and demerits of eastern and western medicine, combine the knowledge of the two medicines, so that an optimum treatment could be apply to each patient.
There are three main research areas in the Department of East-West Medicine:
1) Acupuncture, Moxibustion & Neurophysiology: to study the mechanism of preventive and healing effects of acupuncture and moxibustion by neurophysiological methods.
2) Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Herb & Immunology: to elucidate the mechanism of preventive and healing effects of acupuncture, moxibustion and herbs by immunological methods.
3) Eastern Medicine & Molecular Biology: to study the mechanism of preventive and healing effects of Eastern medicine by molecular biological methods.

Graduate students in the Department of East-West Medicine will be given various opportunities to experience the latest global trend of scientific research into eastern medicine and related technologies with their eminent professors.
